I’m Aloud Proves Herobust is at the Forefront of Bass Music

by Colin

Earlier this week we connected with Atlanta producer Herobust for an exclusive interview. During our conversation he discussed his goal in creating his latest EP, “A few months ago I just saw too many people ‘waiting for the new wave.’ My goal with the I’m Aloud EP was just to make unique music that inspired people to find a wave of their own. All the best artists were pioneers at some point, but they had to be inspired enough to take that first leap.” With the release of I’m Aloud it’s clear that he is a man of his word. The 8 track effort is one of the most forward thinking and innovative projects the trap and bass genres have seen in years. It’s an incredible work that combines his signature dirty south influence with forward thinking sound design for a project that’s unlike anything else.

The release is a representation of a new chapter of Herobust’s evolution as an artist. It’s a bold step away from the tried and true to do something different. This was apparent with the release of the first single ‘Skurt Reynolds’ and ‘Smother Shit’ proved just what the title and vocal samples screamed. As Herobust slowly unleashed singles ‘Dirty Work’, ‘Booty Be Like’ and ‘Bottle Swervice’ it was clear this EP would be a game changer. The final three tracks ‘Barricadence,’ ‘Pippette Up’ and ‘Weigh Home’ which remained unreleased until yesterday, provide a deeper dimension of intensity and variety to the project. ‘Pippette Up’ acts as a climax of the energetic insanity that is I’m Aloud, while ‘Weigh Home’ serves as a masterful conclusion. The track sees Herobust singing on a record for the first time, a feat which he pulls off exceptionally well, crafting a powerful anthem that’s catchy, inventive and straight up massive.
