Toronto DJ duo Thugli are two of the best in the scene. Their sets blend hip-hop with forward thinking electronic sounds such as trap and club while sprinkling in their turntablist backgrounds for a sound that is unique and unforgettable. Their production skills follow in line, bringing us bass heavy trap with a hip-hop heart (see ‘Sic Em,’ ‘Run This’). And we haven’t even mentioned their remixes yet, which include some of the best bootlegs out (‘U Mad,’ ‘Marble Floors,’ ‘Hella Hoes’) and a massive official rework of Diplo & GTA’s ‘Boy Oh Boy’. We had the honour of catching up with Thugli’s own Pat Drastik at Bestival to discuss the concept of ‘real’ DJing, their upcoming music, remixes and SoundCloud takedowns and more.
