If you were either living under a rock or comatose in 2004, you are forgiven for not knowing ‘Lean Back’ by the one and only Fat Joe featuring the always controversial Remy-Ma which is one of the most iconic Scott Storch singles.
NGHTMRE sure as hell did not forget about this club-anthem that had a signature dance move. Like a call to the dance floor, the booming bass leads into the uptempo classic, but chirping synths signal that NGHTMRE’s touch is present. The synths sing-song sparkles, add to the vocal melody as the tension builds into horn-siren drops. The cocky spirit of Fat Joe’s lyrics and the stylish swag of the beat are amplified as NGHTMRE turns up the bass.
It is great to hear this Hip Hop heavyweight be given a Trap make-over. Terror Squad will always have a special place in my heart.
