Berkeley, CA duo ÖMÖ need to be on your watch list. Hot off a collaborative rework of Cashmere Cat’s ‘9’ with nøll, comes ‘Muevelo’. The track is easily their strongest work to date, combining hypnotic loops with snapping trap drums. An exotic middle-eastern vocal sample is paired with some filthy sub bass for a TroyBoi-inspired sound. Tight vocal chops and some sick sound design round this one out perfectly. “Muevelo is definitely an experimental piece for us, where we branched out from our typical feels-y, melodic sound, to a hard trap with a Middle Eastern flair. We used an eclectic spread of sounds in this track and hope listeners appreciate that,” they tell us. Regardless of genre or direction their goal is always to make people feel, “we make music because we live for the moments where music overwhelms you with emotion. Whether they’re the moments that make you feel all the feels or shit your pants when you hear an insane drop – we just want to create, reinvent, and share those moments with as many listeners as we can.” This one lands right between the two.
