Ever since the release of his Rockerfeller EP, Jon Casey has been at the top of our list of producers to watch out for. With the release of 6 Cailber on Buygore’s Fresh Blood, Casey proves he’s here to takeover 2018. The project kicks off with ‘Flexin’ featuring Macntaj. Mac raps over the bouncy and hypnotic trap beat starting the party and building excitement for a filthy and discombobulating drop. It’s a heavy party record with just enough “what the fuck is this!?” layered throughout. The title track operates in the hotbed that is somewhere between trap and dubstep. It’s spacey, futuristic, abusive and perfectly rounded out with gun cocks, verbal shots and deep grunts. ‘Get Right’ sees the South African beatmaker teaming up with rising Philadelphia rapper Abrax Phaeton. The bars have Abrax moving from street tales to realizing his dreams and “focusing on these g’s”. This sounds like the type of track that would soundtrack an epic sci-fi space party. ‘Chainsaw’ is a fitting name for the murderous Jetset and Magmag assisted finale. Bloody bars collide with ruthless sound design and bloodthirsty bass. South Africa is making major waves in the bass scene and Jon Casey looks to be at the helm.
