Yung Bae’s ‘DNA.’ Splicing Will Leave You Feeling Reborn

by FUXWITHIT

Portland producer Yung Bae had a pretty severe case of disco fever with his releases throughout last year, yet has decided to switch things up for 2018. His remix of Kendrick Lamar‘s ‘DNA.‘, off of last year’s smash album DAMN., takes the hype down a few notches, but still knows how to bring the room to life and get everybody moving.

It covers the entire first half of the original tune (before the beat switches), save the roasting segment shortly after the third (and missing) “you’s a”. It sounds like Bae’s trying to keep the love as real as possible in this one, and has no need for any sort of external influences- particularly negative ones. The song still tells Kendrick’s tale perfectly either way, so no loss on that part.

There’s also a sense of similarity in the beats behind the bars – both the fanfare-like melody and bassline in the remix play off each other to loosely resemble the bassline in the original.

Not much is known if Yung Bae himself plans on sticking with this chill vibe, or hopes to return to dropping more disco bangers. Regardless of how the year is to play out, let this one be felt for generations – hit up the free download and set it on repeat!
