Interview: YOOKiE Plays 'Do You FUX With' & 'Emojis'

Last time, we shared some of our conversation featuring Anthony and Christopher Alfaro, who make up YOOKiE. The duo has imparted some insight on how they feel about food, their plans for next year (which consist of a tour on the moon, and being the first DJs to play in all 50 states simultaneously), as well as their musical journey since they started producing, almost 6 years ago.

This segment of the interview focuses more on their personal interests – we asked them some questions to see where their tastes lie, both in the form of ‘Do You FUX With’, plus a round of ‘Emojis’. Scroll below, and see how they reacted to each.

Do You FUX With:

Riverdale
Anthony: …what the hell is that?
Chris: I think about Waka Flocka when I hear Riverdale… I don’t know what it is, so I guess I don’t FUX with it. Cuz I don’t know.
Anthony: I just don’t know if I FUX with it. I MIGHT FUX with it if I knew about it…
Chris: …but at this moment in time, we don’t FUX with it.
Anthony: We currently do not FUX with it. But not by choice – it’s ‘cuz we just… don’t.

Country Music
C: I FUX with country music.
A: Oh hell yeah, I FUX with it. Super catchy- I FUX with bluegrass, some folk shit… some really good spoken shit. I FUX with it.

Anchovies
A: I don’t think I’ve ever had them, so I don’t think I FUX with it.
C: I don’t FUX with it.
Anchovies are actually a nut.
A: Really?
No.
A: *Laughs* I was gonna say, I’m pretty sure it’s fish!
C: My mind was almost blown – to think that I thought that…
A: I was like “whaaaa…?”

Mans Not Hot:
A: Oh hell yeah!
C: I FUX with Big Shaq. The ting go skrrrr-
A: I thought he was like, a “real” guy! I didn’t know he was a character, as in “fake”.
C: Yeah, Big Shaq is a comedian.
A: Yeah, I didn’t know that. I felt betrayed when I found out. Just like that, he was a fuckin’ character. I was like, “damn”.

Valentine’s Day:
A: *Shrugs* It’s just a holiday made by corporate America, just to make money and stuff, so… I don’t really FUX with it. Do you FUX with it, Chris? I mean, you do get the heart candies come in to the stores and shit.
C: If the girls FUX with it… I FUX with it.

Cryptocurrency:
A: I DO… but I DON’T. Like, I FUX with it, but I don’t, like ACTUALLY FUX with it, you know what I mean?
C: We don’t mess with it, but we FUX with it.
A: We FUX with it. Like, I FUX with the idea.

Lucid Dreaming:
A: MMMM- hell yes! I try to fucking lucid dream all the time, but I can’t perfect actually inducing a lucid dream. But… it’s a life journey. I have this idea for a movie, where the whole world is constantly in a lucid dream. Being in real life is not really the “thing” – everybody’s just sleeping and they’re living in their own fantasy world. And that’s basically the premises… Fuck, did I just say premises? It’s “PREMISE”.
C: It’s “premise”.
A: *laughs* I said “premises!”
C: Get off the premises, fam!
A: Yeah, I should get off the premises – I gotta go, sorry! ✌️

Rick & Morty:
C: …Yeah.
A: He FUX with it – I don’t.
C: I dunno, I just played into the hype- when everyone was talking about it, I watched all the episodes in one day.
Favourite episode?
C: I like the one where there’s like, these little creatures inside a machine and they make things bigger. They escape from the machine and then one of them gets eaten by a bird – and that was really funny.
A: I thought Rick & Morty was the same thing as Regular Show. I always got them confused.
C: One of the creators of Rick & Morty voiced Lemongrab on Adventure Time.
A: See? Like, all those shows seem the same to me.

How do you feel when you’re playing music?
C: 🤤
A: Yeah, I agree with that one.

What’s your bass face look like?
A: For me, when I hear a heavy-ass fuckin’ drop, and it hit, I’m just like…

A: Ooooh shit.

C: 😂, or 🙄.
A: 🤘, and 😊.

What’s one of your most slept on emojis?
A: I feel like people should use 🐊 a lot more. They should, but I rarely see it.
C: I like the one where it’s like the person shrugging, like 🤷‍♂️.

What emoji has a deep story to tell, and what’s that story?
A: 🙏 has a story because it’s not a prayer hand – it’s actually a high-five. And the high five is symbolic for the unity of humanity. It’s not just two people going like this *high fives himself* – there’s this whole conspiracy about it. If you guys have time, look it up.
