It’s not every day that you find a rap or hip-hop track that fuxwithit co-founder ClassyVlassy hasn’t heard about…actually it never happens. However, for the first time in history, a white boy that lives in Sault Ste. Marie, ON, Canada (ME) has found one of these unicorns.
The track is “Look Out for Detox” by the one and only, Kendrick Lamar. Now I am an avid Kendrick fan and I had never heard of this either, until a friend of mine tossed it on in my whip. I was instantly hooked. The beat is just so heavy that it is impossible not to nod your head. K’s flow is remarkable as per usual as he talks about his hate towards the use of “Molly”. The song was released as a single back in 2010, which y’all probably missed, as Kendrick was virtually unknown before Section.80.
Upon further investigation, I found out something else that my homie didn’t know. The sample used on this track was originally off Childish Gambino‘s, ‘You Know Me’, from his third mixtape titled,“Culdesac”. Gambino actually produced the beat. This was another little tidbit of information that blew my dick off.
At the end of the day, both tracks go hard and are definitely bangers that you want on your gym playlist while you sculpt those Triceps. In my opinion, I feel the Kendrick version more than the Gambino version (mainly because Gambino’s version is way too ‘Lil Wayne-esque), but either one will help you lift that heavy ass weight in front of the ladies in the yoga pants. Also, no hate towards my boi classyvlassy at all, but when I get the chance to 1up this rap game guru, I have to take it!
Enjoy the music. iFuxwithit.
