I still remember the first time I ever heard about Drake my buddy was like “Yo you remember Jimmy from Degrassi, the guy in the wheelchair…” and I said “Yeah sure what about him”…my friend pulled up Still Fly on Youtube (it was the summer of 09) and right away I knew I had to check this kid out, what came next was So Far Gone which I literally listened to over and over, start to finish, literally without skipping so much as a beat. From that point on, Drake was a regular on my playlist.
Anyways, really enjoyed the article, keep up the hard work guys!

Everyone who was playing it couldn’t wait to ask you if you heard of it so they could be the one to tell you they put you on Drake. I remember moving down to Jersey for a few months in ’09 and telilng my cousin he has to hear this dude from Toronto whose about to blow up…then came the Hot 97 interview in NYC with Angie. Now he’s on their rotation more than homegrown Hov. Crazy.
Great post fuxwithit – it was dope to look back on this as an important moment in hip-hop and an important moment for our city.
