Following Lasers, Food and Liquor 2, and the recent tracks that have been put out, I can't help but be completely disinterested in anything Lupe Fiasco does. This is tough for me considering that his debut album, Food & Liquor, is one of my favorites of all time, but the guy has completely lost touch with what made that album (and his second album, The Cool) so great. Lasers was a made-for-radio disaster (that thankfully, Lupe himself acknowledges), and Food and Liquor 2 was bland across the board - especially production wise. Now, with Tetsuo and Youth, Lupe seems to be geared towards riding trap beats to preach his social message. I envision that it's for a "using your own weapon against you" approach to music, considering that trap rap tends to promote the things Lupe exposes in his lyricism, but it's getting pretty tiredsome and obnoxious. It might just be me, and I could be completely off the mark, but I can't help but feel that Lupe has really fallen off. At this point, is there any real reason to look forward to Tetsuo and Youth?
