Turn Down For What remixes we’d actually like to hear

by Colin

A few weeks back DJ Snake announced the line-up for the official remix of Turn Down For What which featured 2 Chainz, French Montana, and Juicy J. My initial thought was, “Could he have selected 3 shittier rappers?” (probably, but it would be a difficult task). Upon hearing it, my fears were confirmed the track is trash. It was quite disappointing to see one of my favourite tracks of last year be ruined by talentless rappers. Earlier this week, another remix was released which featured Pitbull & Ludacris. Though it is not stellar, it is far better than the first remix. I assume it will probably catch a similar level of hate from true fans (due to Pitbull being on the track) but Luda definitely did his thing. In light of these remixes I thought it’d be fun to take a look at Turn Down For What remixes we’d actually like to hear. I’ve come up with three variations below.

Turn Down For What (Fast Flow Remix) featuring Busta Rhymes, Mystikal, and Twista
Who better to get on the track than 3 of the fastest, most intense flowing artists in the game? Just think about how Busta and Mystikal went in on ‘Iz They Wildin Wit Us & Gettin’ Rowdy Wit Us?‘. Imagine them bringing that sort of ferocity with the addition Twista on some ‘Higher‘ type shit. This is the rap remix that the track needed.

Turn Down For What (West Coast Remix) featuring E40, Snoop Doog and Schoolboy Q
Now this version takes two West Coast legends and pairs them with one of the hottest up-and-comers out of LA. Sure Kendrick would’ve been an easier choice, but Schoolboy’s raw voice and gutter bars would fit the track far better in my opinion. Looking at e40, who wouldn’t want to hear the king of slanguistics drop some outrageous bars in the vein of “I be more hipper than a hippopotamus, Get off in your head like a neurologist, Pushin more weight than Atlas, Got a partner by the name of 2Pacalypse”. Throwing some hyphy into this track could only result in it being even more turnt. Finally we come to West Coast legend Snoop D-O-double-G. Some may be quick to shun this suggestion, stating that he is long past his prime, but when he wants to Snoop can still come through with a killer verse (just check his verse on the O.G. Bobby Johnson Remix below).

Turn Down For What Remix featuring Childish Gambino & Chance the Rapper

Two of the hottest rising stars in the game.  Gambino is no stranger to getting down over trap and electronic beats . From collaborations with Dj Reflex (Body So Tight) and Flux Pavilion (Do or Die),  to his recent verse on Nasa – Hide (Tropkillaz Remix) he takes these tracks to the next level. Frequent collaborator and friend Chance the Rapper is fresh of a killer collab with Skrillex.  It would be awesome to hear how Chance’s unorthodox style and flow would fit over Turn Down for What.

Those are my recommendations for remixes that wouldn’t suck. Do you agree? Think you have better suggestions? Did you enjoy the remixes that are out? Let us know on Facebook and in the comments below.
