Everyday we get an email from an artist who’s looking to get some shine for their music. Most cats are still too green. Some are wack. And then there are the cats you listen to, and think “this one’s different, there’s something here”. A little while ago, P64 reached out to FUXWITHIT.com, sharing his latest project with us. After giving a solid few listens, its safe to say, this one’s different.

Philadelphia Love Story is a concept project that follows the narrative of a relationship taking place in Philly (obviously). The 16 track project includes original and jacked beats. Overall, the mixtape is dope. P64 has some dope wordplay and a very smooth flow. In conversation with FUXWITHIT Co-Founder ClassyVlassy, we found that his inflection that is similar to the 2013 sensation, Macklemore. Not to put P64 in a bubble, just sharing a thought. Difference is, I actually dig this cats music more than that of Macklemore. Regardless, P64 is a cat that I can see having a promising future in hip hop in his own right. That’s a bold statement but if you listen to the standout tracks listed below and take in the entire project, you’ll hear it as well.

The first standout track is his remix of Drake’s Dreams Money Can Buy. Dropping bars over this beat is pretty ambitious (we all know Drizzy killed this track). Named, Aimless, P64 delivers. Check it out below.

The second standout track from the project is Ghostwriter. You may have heard this beat before. Originally off of RJD2’s Deadringer album, P64 rides the beat with a quick, witty and smooth flow. Right from the gate, he drops bars that get you hooked.

“ha, nah that’s a little too soon, like, lets meet up for breakfast and be fuckin’ by noon, like”

The next is Love So Sad. The beat is cool and the way P64 jumps on the beat is dope. As the beat calls for high energy, P comes through on the first verse and sets the tone.

These are just three tracks from the 16, but its enough to be sold on listening the whole way through. P64 still has some work to do, but this concept project is a pretty tight first impression. What’s really dope about this project is that although it follows a narrative and is written with that intention, every track also stands alone quite well. His spoken word style, lyrically ability and flow are impressive and we’re excited to see what comes next from the Philly kid. Check out Philadelphia Love Story below.
