Earlier this week a Twitter beef broke out between well respected DJs Enferno and Shiftee. After a ton of smack talk back and forth, they seemed to come to an agreement that they would settle things on the decks, through a livestream early today. However when the link to the live stream finally came up this morning, it wasn’t a battle that viewers were graced with, but a live video of them ripping apart ‘When Will The Bass Drop’ (see below). The video showcases what live djing is really about, all while poking fun at the SNL skit that clowned today’s big name DJs. It looks like the beef was an elaborate ruse to build anticipation for their new joint endeavor E.A.S.Y. Their goal? To shine some light on #RealDJing. I love the idea, considering technical DJ skills are grossly overlooked and underated these days.
In addition to the video they also released their first track ‘Fly Away’ which combines elements of Future Bass, Jersey Club and Trap for an upbeat feel good tune. Though many were disappointed that the battle didn’t go down, I think the long term output of this collab will greatly outweigh the excitement of a single battle. Check the video and track below and let us know your thoughts.
