#tbt – Tracks You May Have Missed – Slaughterhouse – The One

by Kash

Sex and drugs and dirty money. For this weeks Throwback Thursday we’re taking you back to the summer of 2009 when the eventual Shady Records posse dropped their first single for their debut group album. In case you didn’t know, Slaughterhouse is made up of 4 pretty fantastic lyricists; Joe Budden, Joell Ortiz, Royce Da 5’9″ and Crooked I. Coming together as a group after all being featured on a cut from Joey’s ‘Halfway House‘ album, the crew dropped their self titled debut in August of ’09. ‘The One‘, which dropped a month prior to the albums release featured production from DJ Khalil and a hook from The New Royales. The sing-along qualities of the hook got it some radio play and even though the album only sold around 30,000 copies it lead to a North American tour and a record deal with Eminem’s Shady Records. The group has released 1 album under Shady and will be featured on the upcoming compilation album entitled ‘SHADYXV‘. Check out the track below. Its a fun party record but these 4 cats don’t compromise on the bars.
