If you’re not familiar with Your Old Droog here’s a quick rundown. Back in June he put out his debut EP. With little information on the artist and nothing but the music to go on, the internet had a field day with rumours swirling that Droog was actually Nas’ alias. Droog let the rumours swell for quite some time before disproving them and doing a debut show at Webster Hall. Some were dissapionted when they found out the truth, but I welcome it. This means there is a talented new artist who captures that classic 90’s nostalgia. Sure he sounds like Nas, but that’s what everyone said about Action Bronson sounding like Ghostface and look at how far he’s come. Anyways Droog is back taking us to ’48th Street’. The track has him reminiscing about his guitar playing days while dropping braggadocios bars, “getting a chick is like getting a pick in guitar centre”. The beat is a perfect fit with a guitar riff serving as the foundation. With releases like this, Droog is proving that he’s more than “the guy who sounds like Nas”. Look out for him to take over in 2015. Also be sure to check out his debut video ‘Nutty Bars’ which is his best display of wordplay to date.
