The Fayetville native’s third album leaked online late last night and the discussion over one track spread like rapid fire. The new album ‘2014 Forest Hills Drive’ is scheduled to drop December 9th with an unusual roll out (extremely limited promo and no singles) and though the leak takes away from its semi-surprise element, this track will suffice as excellent promotion. On ‘Fire Sqaud’ Cole has a few choice words for his white rap peers and how they’ve “snatched the sound”.

Same thing that my nigga Elvis did with Rock n Roll/ Justin Timberlake, Eminem, and then Macklemore/

Will any of those mentioned respond? Should they? Is it really a shot or is he just stating what we’ve come to know as white privilege (see: Macklemore wins Grammy over Kendrick and the Internet’s reaction) in hip hop? I guess we’ll have to wait and see.
