I guarantee that anyone flipping through Danny Brown’s surprisingly large back-catalogue will discover Black andy Brown! and play it on repeat for a week. This short LP was released in 2011 to favourable reviews and all tracks are produced by fellow Detroit native, Black Milk. It flew a little under the radar and doesn’t get the attention it deserves.
On ‘LOL,’ Brown delivers wordplay for both idiot drug dealers and for people that look for deeper meaning. He alludes to Detroit politics, Madden, comic books and several other subjects to help send the message to his potential clients that “hey, [he’s] not interested in conversing via text if you’re not buying [his] product.” It sounds like normal rapper speak, but give it a listen and you’ll know that no one will make you grin at both the jokes and the talent like Danny Brown.
