There is truth in numbers and no matter what the haters and naysayers might chirp from Twitter and other social networks, Drake is the biggest artist in the game right now. The OVO head honcho dropped his new, kinda-confirmed and highly anticipated mixtape 6 years to the day of the release of his So Far Gone mixtape. The kid from Toronto has dominated radio, charts, clubs and stereo systems for the past six years and his brand and sound continues to grow stronger. Drake has broken several records and it doesn’t look like he’s ready to slow down at all. In 2014, he maintained his dominance by dropping a few loosies, some of which went on to destroy the charts (‘0-100’, ‘Tuesday’ – both earned Grammy nods). With If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late selling more than 500,000 units and setting a new Spotify streaming record (17 million streams in 3 days), Drake has set the tone for all of 2015. Most rap cats won’t move as many units as Aubrey or have an album rip up charts and connect with people as much as this album did. VFT6 (Views From The 6) is still due later this year and if this recent drop is any indication to what is yet to come, it seems like he’ll have 2015 wrapped up pretty tight. There are a few projects slated to drop and some that have been rumoured, but until they get firm release dates and roll out the marketing plans, Drizzy is in a great position to win 2015.
