#tbt – Tracks You May Have Missed – Kendrick Lamar – A.D.H.D.

by Colin

With the early release of Kendrick Lamar’s newest album To Pimp A Butterfly, Kendrick’s buzz is at its highest level ever. Considering the fact we thought why not take it back to one of our favorite tracks of his debut album Section.80. Much like GCMC’s ‘Swimming Pools’, ‘A.D.H.D.’ is a social commentary disguised as a party anthem. Kendrick exhibits the disconnect he feels with his generation who are more concerned with getting faded than what’s going on in the world, “I’m in the house party trippin’ off my generation, sippin’ cough syrup, like it’s water, never no pancakes in the kitchen, man, no wonder our lives is caught up in the daily superstition, that the world is ’bout to end, who gives a fuck? we never do listen, ‘less it comes with an 808 (a melody and some hoes)”. It’s Kendrick’s keen ability to connect with the youth while asking them to look deeper that make him one of the greatest in the game today. Stream the track below and listen to Section.80 on Spotify.
