The highly anticipated debut EP from Electric Mantis has arrived. Braincase is a 5 track effort that takes listeners on an entrancing and mind-altering journey. It’s the audio equivalent of doing LSD in an underwater cavern. ‘Pixel Wave’ sets the tone perfectly; blending the sounds of running water with gorgeous keys, shimmering synths, hard hitting bass and even a few bed squeaks. The track is somewhere between Cashmere Cat and Wave Racer with an inventive twist. The project flows perfectly from track to track with the running water flowing into the drippy synths on ‘Apollo’. The drop surprises, giving the track gritty trapped out feel. ‘Pacific’ has a spacey laid-back sound with a brief air of intensity. ‘RoseCity’ utilizes brief vocal samples with dark drums and bass juxtaposed with warm chords.
