Herobust Pushes the Boundaries of Bass on ‘Dirty Work’

by Colin

When Herobust announced his upcoming EP I’m Aloud with the release of ‘Smother Shit’he told fans that he wanted to be the change he wanted to see. This meant really pushing the envelope, leaving the safe and tried and true sounds for something more creative. Although ‘Smother Shit’ proved he wasn’t playing, it’s his second single, ‘Dirty Work’ that really illustrates how great of a decision it was. The track takes southern rap vocals and snapping 808’s and layers them with some of the most mind bending sound design of 2015. The samples are robotic (is that an impact wrench?), the synths sound like industrial saws, and the drops are absolutely devastating. The soundscape is reminiscent of the inside of an auto-body shop, but instead of your car getting tuned, ‘Dirty Work’ is retooling your brain on what innovation in bass music means. Listen below and be sure to grab the free download. Look out for I’m Aloud on Mad Decent in January 2016.
