We’ve covered a boat load of throwback tracks since out inception but this one’s a little different.
This morning as I was driving to jump on my morning train to the office I remembered a line from a song but couldn’t remember the song name. I grabbed my phone and typed the bar into my Google search bar hoping Genius would have it loaded in their database. Thankfully they did.
I knew it was a Redman line and then (with the help of Genius) realized that it was one of the illest tracks from Meth and Red’s Blackout! album. So now I had the track name and searched for it on Apple Music and played the shit on repeat for another 15 minutes.
‘Y.O.U.’ comes from the 1999 album from the two longtime friends and collaborators. Both Meth and Red go in over a beat produced by Eric Sermon and “pop shit” for 4 minutes effortlessly.
