If you’re not familiar with Mssingno, you will be soon. He is your favorite producer’s favorite producer. And that comes with good reason. Mssingno is known for fusing pitched up RnB vocals with dark grungy synths, while making it sound incredibly clean. His new EP Fones has those elements with some more surprises sprinkled in. The EP starts off with the ‘Dead.’ This is probably my favorite on the EP. It features his signature deep bassy sounds with catchy vocals that will get stuck in your head for days. The variety of sounds make it a clear standout. It has so many things going on at once but somehow still sounds very clean. The next track is called ‘Fones’ which has more of an RnB feel to it. It features soft breathy vocals with a dark but sweet melody playing underneath. It also has intricate drum work with smooth synths behind everything. I really can’t get enough of it. The next track is titled ‘Inta.’ It packs a similar feel to ‘Fones’ but it is a little more upbeat; mixing deep dark bass, smooth synths, and familiar vocals. The vocal melodies are what really gets me into this track as they fit so well. The last song on Mssningo’s new EP is called ‘Scope’ and it’s the perfect conclusion. It is more upbeat with several melodies but still has an RnB feel to it. The sound is reminiscent of his remix of Cashmere Cat’s ‘Adore.’ I can already tell this is going to be one of my favorite releases for 2016. Mssingno is a name to watch out for this year and we can all expect big things from him.
