Minnesota based producer NoxInBox first landed on our radar a few months back when he connected with Dreamcasts for the time-bending, video game inspired ‘Hyper Beam’. Today he makes his return with the moving release ‘way’. Elegant keys lay the foundation but are eventually overtaken with alluring futuristic synths. It’s a slow build that draws you in deeper with each bar until it finally opens up to an inspiring section with strong kicks, rich bass and an uplifting melody. The breakdown brings back the minimalistic emotion and tugs at your heart strings once more before reaching its climax. The overall feeling is a sense of melancholy with an underlying will to persevere. NoxInBox began writing the song during an especially rough time. After speaking with his girlfriend things instantly felt better and he injected the new found emotion into finishing the song. ‘way’ is a dedication to the women that helped make the track what it is and is especially fitting with Valentine’s Day having just passed.
