In the past year KRNE has become a SoundCloud favourite, dropping some of the hottest trap and future infused bangers on the platform. With the release of his new EP Debris, KRNE proves he’s more than just another SoundCloud producer. The project explores a variety of sounds and styles while remaining a cohesive and mind-bending ride. ‘Gloss’ sets things off with an upbeat cheery future bass sound. ‘Shallow’ sees KRNE blending gorgeous Spring-inspired melodies rich with hope against disgusting dark drops for a juxtaposition that is sheer perfection. The project’s mid section brings a unique sound to each track, from the fierceness on ‘Ascension’, to the spiraling sound on ‘Flushed’ and the downtempo grande backdrop of ‘On My Way,’ which is somehow perfectly rounded out with Future samples. One of the clear standouts is ‘Daylight’. It’s sweet as a Summer’s day with just the right amount of knock. Closing the project out KRNE connects with Herzeloyde and Alexander Lewis on the final two cuts. ‘War’ sounds like the soundtrack to an AI uprising where the machines are out for blood. Meanwhile ‘Afternoon Jam’ packs a funky feel that’s perfect to kick back to. All-in-all the project is near perfect from start to finish, with a sound for every mood.
