Zeds Dead are no strangers to rap music. The duo got into production making hip-hop beats before mixing it up and exploring dubstep and more recently house music. Even as they explored different sounds there was always an influence of hip-hop underlying within their sound. With that said, their latest release ‘Back Home’ is their most true to rap record to date. Connecting with Freddie Gibbs, the Toronto duo craft a hazy instrumental that lets the rapper’s bars take centre stage. Gibbs glides over the beat with street tales that run the classic rap game gamut. From counting stacks, to selling dope, to street wars and smoking on celebrities (that Schwarzenegger/Terminator). This is the first release off Zeds Dead’s upcoming album and only time will tell what else they have in store. Along with the release, Zeds Dead also announced the launch of their new label Deadbeats. We can’t wait to see what will come out of the label, stay tuned.
