Earl Sweatshirt returns once again, dropping probably his most soulful track, ‘Balance.’ Backed by smooth instrumentals produced by Knxwledge, Earl diverts yet again from the distinct sound we thought we knew him for in his most recent album I Don’t Like Shit, I Don’t Go Outside. Instead, his melancholic lyrics are softer, and have more to do with life rather than his depression. The production behind this track mirrors that, with a pure and simple beat as well as less complicated (we know Earl can do complicated well) and more real lyricism. Though short, ‘Balance’ along with other recently released audio ‘Solace’ and ‘Wind In My Sails’ point toward the direction of Earl’s evolution as an artist and the overall sound of his upcoming album.
