Mick Jenkins & BadBadNotGood Deliver Powerful New Song ‘Drowning’

by FUXWITHIT
Mick Jenkins proves once again why he deserves to be taken notice of, he raps and produces music that takes the artistry of someone who’s been in the game years beyond what he has been. ‘Drowning’ demonstrates the ability of music, in the way it can make you feel and what it means. Featuring the instrumental hip hop, jazz and everything else band, BadBadNotGood, ‘Drowning’ shows how restraint can be beautiful. The surprisingly simple production along with Mick Jenkins’ thoughtful rap and a hook that repeats “I can’t breathe” (most likely quoted from Eric Gardner, who Mick Jenkins has referred to in previous works), brings a sense of heaviness and emotion that’s rare to find in music nowadays.
‘Drowning’ is an example of using music as an art to carry a message in a way no other medium can.
