Oski Is at His Best on ‘Kid Chrome’ EP

by Colin

UZ’s Quality Good Recordings is proving to live up to its name. After releasing EPs from UZIan Munro and Tascione, they’re back with another huge release, Oski’s Kid Chrome. The project is everything we look for in a trap release in 2016. It’s hard hitting, forward thinking and balances between somewhat familiar and “what the fuck is this!?” Kid Chome kicks off with ‘Super Hot,’ a slapper with a middle Eastern tinge and a smattering of samples scattered throughout. From there, things get really interesting with ‘Tell Her’. The track is an emotionally gripping, slow burner, built around touching vocals and some slippery synths. It all adds up to a dynamic record that feels like an impending break-up. ‘Flex’ opens with a soulful, almost spiritual sound that morphes into a realm of insane face-melting bass. Just when you think it can’t get any iller, an exotic flute takes you down the Amazon. The break allows you to catch your breathe before Oski freaks it even further on the final drop. Last but certainly not least comes the Ian Munro and UZ assisted ‘On Fire’. With a strong vocal top line and some stupid drops this might be the festival sleeper of the season.

TL:DR this is Oski’s best work to date and he’s only getting better. Listen to it right now.
