This Saturday November 19th, I will be attending The Royal Burlesquerade presented by The Lightning Society in New York, NY. This hotly anticipated, lushly whispered-about annual event is held on a yacht in Manhattan harbor. Aboard, we will be entertained by costumed performers, custom built decorative sculptures, and a sophisticated light show. All of this is to set the stage for a series of DJ’s and producers that promise to not only rock the boat, but bring the bass.
The line up is as follows: Nico Stojan, FDVM, Tasha Blank, Elias Dore, Katya Lee, Experiemen.Tal, Muffs & Mykola, and Alexander:Louis.
As some one who loves going to musical performances of every kind, I am not ashamed to admit that I am not a follower of any of these musicians. After a bit of research, and delving into their profiles, I anticipate that there will be a mix of genre’s and styles including Trance, House, Techno and other manifestations of electronic music. I’m sure I will be pleasantly surprised by these performers and producers.
There has been a lot of mystery leading up to the release of this year’s theme, and who exactly is on the list to spin for this exclusive party. Lightning Society has thrown a few of these outlandish and indulgent bashes in the past. We are scheduled to board in the afternoon, cruise around the island of Manhattan, and then dock to continue to party into the night. I hope I don’t have to wear a life jacket.
