Sylvan Lacue’s ‘Televised’ Is Thought Provoking and Timely

by Colin

Sylvan LaCue is back with his third self-produced record in ‘Televised.’ It’s reflective and poignant at a time that’s shadowed in uncertainty. As the words “Do you want a revolution?” are repeated, it forces listeners to look inward and truly consider the idea. It’s deep, poetic and powerful. From images of “bullets singing lullabies” to “trigger happy police,” the first verse gives a glimpse into just some of the issues facing the world. A breakdown through the midpoint has Sylvan giving a sobering speech to listeners, driving home the fact that this isn’t a TV program, you can’t “skip out for a beer,” if the revolution is to occur it’ll be all encompassing. This gives way to an emotional sing song section with Sylvan addressing his mother with bone-chilling questions, “tell me why they hate my skin momma?” ‘Televised’ is a thought provoking and timely piece of art that showcases Sylvan’s ever growing talent as an artist. Listen to this one again and again.
