One of the most anticipated hip hop albums of the year (if you have good taste in quality hip hop) is here! Don’t Smoke Rock is the new album that finds legendary producer Pete Rock teamed up with Harlem fire spitter Smoke DZA.
The project, which was announced earlier in the year, has unfortunately flown under the radar. This week the pair visited the Breakfast club to try to drum up some attention
Prior to the drop the pair had released 3 tracks from the project.
‘Limitless’ featuring Dave East, the video for which can be seen HERE
As well as ‘Black Superhero Car’ ft Rick Ross, and my personal pick for rap song of the year, ‘Milestone’ ft Jadakiss, Styles P & BJ the Chicago Kid.
As if those names mentioned already weren’t enough, Don’t Smoke Rock also features a murders row of incredible emcees like Royce Da 5’9, Wale, Big K.R.I.T, Dom Kennedy, Cam’ron, Wale, Mac Miller and R.F.C. member Nymlo.
Hopefully the combination of incredible beats and quality rhymes, will lead to the project getting the credit it deserves. But nowadays only dudes movin units are Drake and….
If not sales, maybe the album will receive some critical praise, possibly a 5 mic rating, although I’m not even sure if The Source even reviews albums anymore? Listen below.
