As 2016 comes to a close, Oddisee is ending the year with a bang, announcing a new album entitled The Iceberg. The twelve track project will arrive on February, 24th next year. To tie fans over and build excitement, he has let off the first single ‘Things’. The production maintains an upbeat, almost dancey, hip hop feel (think Q-Tip’s The Renaissance). As per usual, it’s the lyrics that stand out above all. On ‘Things’ Oddisee explores the notion of self importance in a self-centered world. It’s ripe with quotables, balancing thought provoking and smirk inducing with lyrics like, “We just want to matter more tryna be the matador in the pit of bull, Tryna gather our status to the masses lookin at the glass like that’s pitiful, I ain’t seein’ what you seein’ cause your problems ain’t my problems, how you solve ’em really I don’t even care, outtin’ pressure on the shoulders that ain’t really there, but I know you see it when you stare.” Stream ‘Things’ below and pre-order The Iceberg.
