We’ve been supporters of No Parents No Rules since their inception. For those unfamiliar, NPNR are a DIY label out of Texas founded by BBoy Morris, Pass The 40 and The Hi-Yahs. As their name suggests their outlook is simple: No Genres/No Boundaries. Their goal is to support and help showcase good music regardless of any constructs. Today we have the honour of premiering their first compilation The Fine Print Vol. 1.
The project features 5 tracks from some seriously dope under the radar talent. Kicking thing off comes First Gift’s ‘Discussion,’ a brain-bending, raucous banger that goes from 0 to 100 real quick. Owl-B switches the vibe with ‘Ask Yourself,’ a dark and hypnotizing cut that feels like a trip into an incredible underground club. Zenon delivers what may be the biggest standout of the project with ‘Desolate.’ The deceivingly downplayed intro is entrancing and exotic. As the drums build, it readies listeners for a drop that is straight up smashing. It’s a midtempo monster with an underlying, almost spiritual sentiment. Hookers N Blow bring the bounce on ‘LA Bound’ combining housey vibes with some rugged wobbles. And finally, closing it out comes Junk Food’s ‘Rice,’ a video game inspired trap dream sequence. Check all the tracks below and grab the free download. Expect future compilations from NPNR on a quarterly basis.
