As a fan of all things creepy-weird, but also a total bass hound, I’m always on the search for something that is going to not only be dark but dripping with ragged treble and rib-cage-rattling bass. If you have ever felt the same way, I deplore you check out this single ‘Nightcrawler’ by ZHU.
ZHU’s music is not easily categorized, but is definitely ‘on the bleeding edge’ of electronic sound. Leaving his genre undefined allows ZHU to create brilliantly fresh music, and this newest release is nothing different.
‘Nightcrawler’ is fast on the heels of the destructively dank remix of Migos’s ‘Bad and Boujee,’ which is also worth a listen, and is a Frankenstein, funkified, dark electro-monster. It’s difficult to describe ‘Nightcrawler’ in a succinct way. Each piece of this track is unique and puzzled together. It’s hard to discern which parts are which since each transition is so silky smooth. Catchy lyrics animated by both a foxy male vocalist and a robotic monotone. Silvery synths, and a throbbing electric-guitar bass make this song feel like its from a very chic, Avant Garde film about Power Rangers, but I still feel sophisticated after running through it fives times. The spanking snare keeps everything in line through this dramatic, and truly adventurous track. It’s definitely a dance party song, and has an irresistible boogie-down sort of beat, but still is so extra with its powerful break down. Check it out below.
