PREMIERE: LEViT∆TE & 808 Mafia’s Fuse Collide For ‘Black Mass’

by Colin

Block Society’s LEViT∆TE has been slaying the (electronic) trap game with forward-thinking slappers for a minute. 808 Mafia is a crew of trap OGs founded by Lex Luger and Southside. Their sounds helped to form the foundation of what electronic trap was built upon and they’ve been slaying the rap game ever since. Today, LEViT∆TE has connected with 808 Mafia’s Fuse (‘Moves’) to bless us with ‘Black Mass’. The track takes many shapes and forms moving from gritty to ethereal, futuristic to straight snapping. Muffled chant-like vocals bring a spiritual soundscape that lays the foundation before a hypnotic vocal is laid-over deep bass and pounding percussion. The intensity leads to an explosion which opens the track’s second act. Deep breathy synths create a state of uncertainty as 808s build into a frigid drop. Another interlude brings us to act 3 with the vocals returning to be chopped and distorted over an anthemic ride-out. ‘Black Mass’ is an ever-evolving trap heater that proves the genres continuous ability to progress and remain fresh. Stream it below and be sure to grab that download for a little bit of change.
