UZ’s ‘Layers’ Sounds Extraordinary Thanks To Fresh Remakes

by Curt Norris

With continued growth, and still going from strength to strength, Quality Goods Records – the label owned by French bass and trap maestro UZ – are making sure they see out the end of the year strong with this goliath of a remix project.

After impressing both musically and critically back in the middle of the year, UZ’s long player Layers is handed over for an insane amount of remix treatment, with selected tracks being given numerous remixes (his collab with Stööki Sound, Onoe Caponoe and Foreign Beggars, ‘Bang’ is reworked four different times), while others are given a fresh new take. Ian Munro handled things on with his rolling remix of ‘Bad Gurlz’ while Machinedrum takes care of business on ‘Inferno,’ utilising his trademark style effectively.

Highly recommended listening on the Layers (The Remixes) album, so be sure to get a copy from here.
