Today the endless SoundCloud goldfields gift us with a new little nugget. Supported by some extremely cool guys in the scene, Call Me was a completely new name for me. Now he stands strong on my ones-to-watch-list. Scrolling through his previous EPs and tracks it appears clear this California producer loves to dig deeply in sounds libraries, looking for the sound you don’t expect and he loves to play with the sound design.
His recent release titled ‘Pop’ is exactly a statement of these intents. With a misleading, faint inception, the track leaves the listener on the edge for several seconds, without a concrete idea of what to expect. As soon as the drop comes closer, a Team Supreme atmosphere begins to take shape, until the break in of an imperious fat kick finally shows the definitive path. Starting from here, ‘Pop’ keeps going with an alternation of industrial sound effects and grooves till the peak moment, when everything is brought to the next level by a truly monstrous abrasive synth.
