Two-State’s Debut LP, Robust, Will Leave You Feelin’ Shook

by FUXWITHIT

Toronto producers Tyr Kohout and Incandescent come together as Two-State – and almost right off the bat, they’ve created Robust: a 10-song LP, ready to bring down the house with some really dark, heavy and dynamic sounds.

The album has a fitting name, given how rich and hefty each track is. It’s an eclectic mix of neurofunk, drumstep, and generally heavy d’n’b, with hints of deep dub in some areas. Towards the middle of the album, there’s a prevalence of halftime and breakbeat, to switch things up – and for those looking for a proper tune to rinse out to, take note of its sixth track, ‘Pitchbend’.

Fellow T.O. drum ‘n’ bass afficionado Stranjah is the only featured artist, who helps put together the triplet-esque tune ‘Beasting‘. The very tune also has a VIP, which helps close out the album on a graceful and melodic manner, but not without one last bass-y hurrah.

In relation to the album, the duo have also made a promo mix, to help wrap it all up with a nice, lengthy bow! The mix features a good range of the genres/styles that influenced the album itself – with artists like Minnesota, Mefjus, and many other hard-hitters – as well as songs & remixes by Two-State, and each of the duo’s respective artists.
Check out the album and mix beolw; Robust is now available on Beatport, via Schedule One Recordings.
