PREMIERE: Stohou Drops New Wave Gospel on Liquid Ritual vol. 1

by Alessio Anesi

Officially established just in May 2017 in the UK, Liquid Ritual has been on one hell of a ride for the past eleven months. With masterworks like ‘Fractals‘, ‘Sorry‘, ‘Atantis‘, the linked radioshow and a series of shows both in their homeland and across Europe, it has legitimately become one of the world’s foremost sources of wave-inspired music and, beyond doubt, it gained a spot in my personal label’s venerable trio (alongside Wavemob and terrorhytm). Today, in the lead-up of its first birthday, time has come for the long playing debut titled ‘Liquid Ritual vol. 1’, from which we’re extremely proud to premiere ‘Hollow’ by Stohou.

Producer, DJ, and Liquid’s co-founder and curator, Stohou is a figure who rose from nothing and now is steadily settled on a throne in the core of the Wave world. Despite the fact that his work mainly occurs ‘behind the scenes’ of the label, his sensibility and vision as a composer is something that shouldn’t be ignored.

Defined by the artist himself as “energetic club-focused Wave,” ‘Hollow’ indeed finds his perfect habitat in dark clubs and bare warehouses, but its identity revolves around the juxtaposition between two main emotional layers. One is bearer of euphory, adrenaline, it’s an uplifting load of energy that hits you like a shockwave, the other is gloomy and hit ceaseless our hidden fragile inner-self, creating a need of solitude and utmost discretion. These are two incompatible moods, unequivocally, but if you’ll open your mind and manage to match them in a single harmony, you’ll experience music in a whole new overwhelming way.

Check out ‘Hollow’ below or bump the entire Liquid Ritual vol. 1 album, alongside cutting edge names of the Wave scene the like of Kareful, Skeler, Deadcrow and many more.
