From the community acclaimed ‘Wallfuck‘ edit and the first future bass originals and remixes, to the more recent outrageous bass efforts (‘The Throne‘ and ‘Strange’ above all), the evolution of the william. project has been radical but has blessed us with one of the most crazy creative producers in the game. This metamorphosis has been one of the stories I’ve most devotedly followed through the last few years and, now that it has reached its pivotal moment and I’m more than thrilled to see where it’ll go next. The ‘Telekinesis’ EP indeed, works both as an ending and starting point. It works as the last stop of the growth’s journey and, more essentially, it launches william.’s new identity.
The collection unexpectedly starts with a pulpy, jazzy introduction that, despite the unsettling title ‘Existential Crisis’, sets a chill dreamy lo-fi mood. After this 1 minutes long limbo, the descent to hell starts with ‘Nutty’ that brings the journey under a dark light but without being aggressive. The convoluted drops are nestled in a frame of meditative ambient moments that unload the pressure on our synapses. The next step, ‘Apparition’, begins on the same line, but soon goes way harder, in a very X&G manner. With ‘Blop Hopper’ and the title track ‘Telekinesis,’ william. showcases his excellent sound design skills erasing any empty space in the sound spectrum, it’s like there’s no a single particle out of its place, the atmosphere is so highly compressed and saturated that in some moments I really feel like I’m drowning.
