Bass music knows no bounds; sonically or globally. Putting this on full display comes ‘Axis’ a new collaboration between LA’s FLY and New Zealand’s Troy Kete. The two producers have been lurking in the underground for some time. Troy has worked with heavy hitters like 8ER$ and most notbaly QUIX (on multiple occasions). Meanwhile FLY made some noise collaborating with Stylust Beats and recently dropped massie flip for Kyral x Banko x G-Rex. With the release of ‘Axis’ the two are ready for their biggest hit to date.
“We wanted to create a track where listeners can connect with a vocal narrative thats complimented by a festival sound in the drops. The track represents a combination of our musical styles with tribal elements referencing a lot of different world music along with newer styles of wonky trap,” says FLY. New Zealand’s S A M M I E lures you in with her evocative voice. It slowly pulls you into the darkness, the underlying synths give hints of an ominous outcome but you can’t resist but to dive in. The first drop balances a gritty trap sound that intensifies as the vocals dissipate in place of filthy bass. As the vocals return ‘Axis’ will leave you spellbound before slapping you with a festival-ready climax. ‘Axis’ ties together a sensual allure, wordly undertones and booming bass for a sound that commands replays.
FLY also mentions that New Zealand heavyweight QUIX had a bit of involvement with track, “QUIX was super supportive throughout the creative process in writing ‘Axis’, giving feedback on tweaks that could improve the track, offering his creative ear.” Don’t be surprised if this one starts gaining major support immediately.
