Deep, Dark House Vibes on Tchami and Brohug’s ‘My Place’

by Mekabeth

Tchami and Brohug visit the dark side on ‘My Place’ featuring Reece which is out on Tchami’s own label, CONFESSION.

Tchami has been dubbed The Future of House music, often toting singles that crumble dance floors from the Future House genre. Not only does he churn out tracks, but he founded his record label and filled it with other like-minded artists including Brohug.

The track falls open with a dreamy beginning. Reece’s vocals chirp eerily as she over-articulates the dreary consonants of the words. There is plenty of upfront introduction to the elements that come cresting together throughout this banger. Suddenly and without warning, they are warped and mashed together into a heavy dub drop. Each compartment of this track is distinct, a potent mixture of its own. The masterful artistry in this song are the transitions between silky lifts, and the quickly tarnishing, thumping bass streaks that are brought on by quickening tempos.

It’s nice to see two house artists, like Tchami and Brohug, be inspired to create music for modern house fans, but also clearly get down behind a turntable. ‘My Place’ doesn’t have the same party-House vibes that each of them emanates on their own, but the track is sultry, romantic, and also a beast of a banger. It’s deep belly bass, aggressive tempo, and dark aesthetic make difficult to not dance to.
