UK duo Duke & Jones have been on a tear. With tracks like ‘Tusk’ and ‘Breathe’ becoming favourites among DJs and fans alike, their name has been steadily coming up in the discussion around the future of bass music. Unsurprisingly they landed themselves a spot in our Top 8 Bass Producers You Need To Know list last year. With the release of their stellar debut EP Eclipse they strengthen their position.
The four track effort brings something for every bass fan. Beginning with ‘Break You Down,’ the track combines pitched vocals with grande bass, emotional breaks and just the right amount bang to set the tone. ‘Numerals’ with Rohaan sees them exploring a darker realm. Tribal energy, war-tuned brass, and brutal vocal chops and bass make this a clear standout. Connecting with Aviella Winder on ‘Final Goodbye’ sees her syrupy sweet and intoxicating voice paired with some of the rawest sound design on the project. While I’d prefer the instrumental in all its rawness, the additional top line is sure to help bring in some new fans and prime it for festivals. Closing things out comes ‘Sticks’ with Don Cotti. His raw and ragged flow is matched with beat that’s nothing short of murderous.
Eclipse is a strong offering from one of the most exciting duos in bass music right now. Don’t miss this. Stream Eclipse below and grab the project via Circus records.
