Hydraulix Is Ready For The Throne On ‘Kingdom’ EP

by Colin

Australia’s Hydraulix is one of the best in the game. His unique blend of trap and bass music never stagnates, with each project exploring new bounds and his latest is no different. The 4 song Kingdom EP has Hydraulix eyeing the crown of the bass realm. When we spoke with Hydrualix a few months back, he mentioned his upcoming EP was very suited to Quality Goods. Just looking at the tracklist it’s quite clear why (UZ, Ian Munro, Oski & Avance are all present).

Kicking things off comes ‘Roll Out’ with Avance. Snapping 808s and alarm sounds set the tone for a trap slapper that’s sure to leave your face twisted and your trap arms in full effect. Switching the style up comes ‘Angels’ a ray of sunshine in the dark and dirty soundscape that is Kingdom. Tezatalks’ vocals lead this up while Hydraulix creates a backdrop that feels like a coastal summer day trip. Despite taking a lighter, future bass direction, Hydraulix is able to add in just the right amount of gritty swag with the smoother elements.

‘Stress’ is a show-stealer that’s been years in making. Working alongside close friends Oski & Ian Munro the chemistry is on full display. An ominous introduction falls into drops that’ll bowl you over while leaving you discombobulated. It’s a 1,2 punch to your brain and body that you won’t soon forget. Just when you think it can’t get any wilder, they come through with final drop that’s pure insanity.

Capping thing off comes ‘Ransom’ with QGR boss and trap king UZ. It’sexactly what you’d hope to hear from these two; a menacing bass banger with a touch of middle eastern influence. It sounds just as the collab should, with a few cheeky surprises to prick those ears up.

Kingdom is the perfect follow-up to Madness & Trippin’, allowing Hydrualix to prove his consistency by going 3 for 3 in less than a year. While he may be too polite to outright snatch the crown, Hydraulix has proven he’s definitely in line for the throne and with each release his claim gets stronger. Stream Kingdom below and grab it via Quality Goods Records. For more on Hydraulix be sure to peep our in-depth video interview with below.
