Daktyl Stays Creatively Juicy on ‘Oscillate’ ft. Janelle Kroll

by Mekabeth

This aerial track is the final in the trifecta of singles Daktyl has done with Counter Records. Following previous tracks ‘Weather’ ft. MOONZz, and ‘6 Letters’. ft. Aquilo, both equally as crisp and innovative.

Daktyl recently was able to do an interview with us, where he answered questions about his creative process and inspiration for his unique sound. This latest release, ‘Oscillate’, is a testament to Daktyl’s nostalgic futurism: the reusing and recycling of organic sounds that have been worked for their genre of origin, are reincarnated into new life as futuristic electronica. It has a light and airy funk, crafted through creative matching of earthy vocals provided by Janelle Kroll, and Daktyl’s electric bouquet of violins and tin drums. There’s terrific melody progression through loftier verses, and richer stews in the chorus. A complicated break provides distance between the opening verse and final elements, where the tin drums blend into futuristic synths. The buildup gathers the synthetics and dashes them onto the plucky bass lines.

“For me this song is about the internal struggle we all go through in making difficult decisions in life, we all oscillate between what we consider the right or wrong choice.. and it’s those choices that make up life. Sometimes what feels like the right choice at the time can be wrong, and vice versa. It’s that feeling of uncertainty contrasted with hope that the song stemmed from.” – Daktyl
