Heimanu Pays Homage to RL Grime in His Latest Masterpiece ‘NOVA’

by A. Samuel Lewis

Over the past 2 years, Sydney, Australia-based producer Heimanu has intricately crafted a niche sound of future bass-infused trap for himself with a heavy emphasis on meticulous sound design. With remixes for What So Not‘s ‘Beautiful‘ with Winona Oak, and ‘I’ll Wait‘ by Enschway & sumthin sumthin, he has more than demonstrated his ability to work with a track and enhance it with his own tastes and flavor.

However, his latest masterpiece goes above and beyond any remix I’ve ever heard, an exceptional illustration of Heimanu’s desire to break free from normalities and create something truly fresh and new on the scene. Beginning with ‘Undo‘ by RL Grime feat Jeremih & Tory Lanez the track unfolds, sampling all 15 tracks from RL Grime’s latest album NOVA.

While lacing an entire album into a track hardly longer than 3-minutes is a daunting feat, Heimanu navigates the challenge with seamless expertise. It took me nearly a handful of listens to discover each individual intricacy woven into the fabric of this extraordinary track.

What originally started off as a remix for ‘Feel Free‘ quickly turned into something completely different. Soon into the process, I added some other songs from the album to try and create something unique and interesting. Over the next few days, every track from the album eventually found its way into the project,” Heimanu reveals about the song. “P.s. I couldn’t help but sample a few of his other tracks too,” he teases.

This is a must-listen for die-hard RL Grime fans and demonstrates unparalleled artistic vision and creative capability. Kick-back, close your eyes and try to pinpoint as many RL Grime tracks as you can!
