Australian trap producer Yvng Jalapeño has a marvelous eye for collaboration. Envisioning flawless synonymity between his own meticulous trap style and the grimy, nastier sound of German-based Krischvn gave birth to an absolutely awe-inspiring remix of ‘Rainer’ from RL Grime’s latest album NOVA.
An absorbing synth pattern littered with sentimental samples of joyous children’s laughter lines the introduction of the edit. A hopeful piano melody and wavering vocals build energy in the track, before a gently growing clicking overwhelms the song and catapults into an assault of tight, lively clicking notes contrasted with whirring computer sounds. Seemingly chaotic at first, the sophisticated sound design incorporated by the pair gives the track an overtly chaotic, yet precisely accurate allure.
“Krischvn & I have been trying to get something finished for awhile, our styles work really well together,” Jordan discloses with his fans via SoundCloud. I personally felt this remix did an exceptional job of paying homage to the original, while introducing more than ample individuality, resulting in an extraordinary collaborative effort that seamlessly blends the styles of both artists.
