PREMIERE: KUREI Samples Vince Staples On Bass Epic ‘Late Night’

by Colin

LA-based producer KUREI has been making a name for himself within the SoundCloud bass and trap communities. His “weird ass trap shit” is exactly the sound we’ve come to love in 2018; heavy bass, snapping drums and mind-bending sound design. With releases on below the surface, SUS Collective, and Good Nature Collective, we’re not the only ones taking note. ‘Perspective’ peaked our interest and KUREI is proving that he’s only getting better with time.

Furthering the point comes his latest release ‘Late Night.’ Bent and looped Vince Staples vocals form the foundation for an out of this world bass epic. Ice cold synth meld into a drop that’s room filling, while minimilstic. KUREI casts all nonsense aside for maximum impact. The sound design gives the pulsing basslines palpable depth that takes this to new levels. The track’s end section gives us a bit more of Vince’s ‘Big Fish’ verse, creating a rap influenced lean to close things out.

Living up to its title, ‘Late Night’ really did come together after dark, “so it started at my homie zaul’s house, it was originally just a fuck around beat for fun, then it just started coming together all so well and next thing I know its 4 am and the tracks just about done, the vocals tied it all together though, I swooped those up from a Vince Staples acapella. This definitely ended up being one of my favorite tracks I’ve made,” KUREI tells us. It’s no coincidence it’s one of our favorites too. Stream ‘Late Night’ below and grab the free download.
