GANZ Combines Old And New In Emotional EP ‘Skin In The Game’

by Steph Contant

GANZ has been one of electronic music’s most consistent stars throughout the years. From the emergence of future bass earlier this decade to its current, somewhat saturated state, the Dutch producer has continuously pushed his sound to new limits, leaving budding producers ceaselessly trying to imitate him. This forward-thinking mentality that GANZ has adopted has seen him earn the respect of legends and even collaborate with electronic music’s finest such as What So Not and Mr. Carmack.

On June 1st, GANZ shared an emotional single titled ‘Let’s Fly Away Together’ featuring vocals from LUNA MAY that kicked off a string of tracks leading to yesterday’s Skin In The Game EP released on Dim Mak. The beautiful, melodic first single set the bar high for the remaining four tracks, but in usual GANZ fashion, he was able to meet the expectations with every following piece. A pop-electronic follow-up titled ‘Slippin’ featuring CUT_ displays GANZ’s ability to combine his ingenuity with the distinct style of his fellow collaborators. The final single titled ‘I’ll Be Gone’ is a segway into the remainder of the EP as well as into the apparent future direction of the GANZ project, as it meshes meticulous vocal chops with euphoric synths that are further intensified in the following track, ‘Skin In The Game’. The fourth track presents quirky fills and raunchy bass that is reminiscent of SOPHIE yet distinct enough to stand out on its own. GANZ closes out the project with ‘Playing With Fire’, a future bass/trap hybrid highlighting the Amsterdam native’s versatility and raw passion that he puts into his works.

The Skin In The Game EP is sixteen minutes of pure bliss, so check it out in its entirety below.
